Recreating Historic Black Images

As the #BlackLivesMatter marches take over the world right now I thought it best to keep my content relevant for the past 2 weeks for my Recreation Project videos.

Last week, I chose to focused on the Huey P Newton ‘Black Panther Throne’ Image where he adorns a peacock chair which I opted to edit into my final image. You can access more information about this famous Black Panther Image in this article: black-panther-wakanda-throne-peacock-chair

This week i chose to visit the fashion archives and came across a bunch of 1900’s Ebony Magazine covers. I chose Diana Ross’ 1970 cover as she was rocking her fro and I thought it looked striking and memorable so I went ahead and recreated it using Photoshop to merge our faces together.

Above is the Huey P Newton edit (left) and Ebony Magazine Edit (Right)

I have thoroughly enjoyed this project and I aim to continue it until I reach 10 videos. To see me first 2 videos you can check out my first post here: Quarantine Project – Pinterest Image Recreating
