BTS | Photography Project ‘Ophelia’

So i’m working on this new exam piece for art, i chose the topic of reinventing the past. I started by looking at the Ophelia painting by Sir John Everett Millais. I absolutely loved it and immediately thought of a new photography project! I would re-invent the painting. I wanted to make my project totally modern, basically really minimal and a complete twist on the classic!
Since my birthday and valentines day had just passed i had loads of roses and flowers in my house to spare, they were all pretty much dieing and i didn’t want to throw them away so i used them for the project and after kept them, dried them out and made potpourri.  The white in the bathtub was the oilatum which i borrow from my cuz because quite frankly i didn’t really fancy using milk to whiten it. The rest of the strange plants used were all handpicked from my beautiful model Daisy’s garden. I hadn’t intended to but ended up bringing along my budding photographer friend Rhenz Lorenzo. It turned out all too well, he was great help with the lighting and camera setting and Daisy was brilliant at painting on this death like makeup i wanted her to depict.

So take a look at our photo’s, we had so much fun shooting this!
